Harder To Steal

Here we go, making love like fugitives to the law,

Here we go, jumping in before we know how deep it goes,

And every moment gets a little bit stranger,

And every breath gets a little bit harder to steal,

Where do they keep the words that mean the most?

In the heart, in the heart, in the heart.

Is that where you lie?

Is that where you sleep, in the night, when you’re not by my side,

In the heart, in the heart, in the heart,

One shot tonight,

Is that where you sleep?

Here we go, running off like butterflies to the sun,

Here we go, tripping over ourselves because we’re already done,

And every day gets a little bit brighter,

And every smile gets a little bit harder to tame,

Where do they keep the people that mean it the most?

In the heart, in the heart, in the heart.

Is that where you lie?

Is that where you sleep, in the night, when you’re not by my side,

In the heart, in the heart, in the heart,

One shot tonight,

Is that where you sleep?

And every breath gets a little bit harder to steal,

From you you, oh give it away,

Oh give it away.

And every breath gets a little bit harder to steal,

Harder to hear, harder to see you try.

Oh, give it away, oh give it away,

Where do they keep the words that mean the most?

In the heart, in the heart, in the heart.

Is that where you lie?

Is that where you sleep, in the night, when you’re not by my side,

In the heart, in the heart, in the heart,

One shot tonight,

Is that where you sleep?

Wouldn’t It Be Nice?

You split yourself in half

With the decisions that you make

Fooling your heart

But won’t you try again?

To keep it all together.

You’ll make yourself a mess

If you continue down this road

Where you trying to get to,

You’re not sure, but you’re sure gonna go.

Isn’t it nice, to pretend to be somebody else?

Just for a day, watch the world from outside your eyes.

Wouldn’t it be nice? To give it all up,

To let it slip away, and forget all your mistakes.

Wouldn’t it be nice? To wake up brand new,

To let it fix itself, and forget what it feels like, to really need help,

Wouldn’t it be nice? Couldn’t it be so nice.

Everyday is the same box

With the same walls cornered out

You keep making your excuses,

Just to keep up with the doubts.

You’re tired and you’re beaten,

By the blows of what could be,

But instead of fighting back,

You’re just backing down to their needs.

What’s your name?

Act your age,

Come on show it to me, what you’ve made inside that cage.

What’s your name?

Do you even know your face?

Could you pretend for just one day,

That you’ve never been wrong,

You’ve never done wrong,

Never been sorry,

Never had a reason,

Never need a reason,

You never…oh.

Wash Over Me

My feet stopped listening

Somehow I’m at your door

I’m sorry for the way I am sometimes

I don’t mean it, I don’t mean it.

If I knock would you let me in?

Would you even say hello

I’m sorry for the way I am just sometimes

If I could help it, I promise I would.

Stand in my room and hold my breath,

Cause in your hands, I will be still.

My heart is beating too loud,

But it’s waiting for every word on your tongue

To wash over me and drown them out.

My hands are shaking

Somehow I’m uncontrolled.

I’m sorry for the way I am sometimes,

I don’t mean it, I don’t mean it.

If you knock, you’ll be the first I’ll let in.

I’ll say hello and everything.

I’m sorry for the way I am sometimes,

If I could help it, I promise I would.

Stand in my room and hold my breath,

Cause in your hands, I will be still.

My heart is beating too loud,

But it’s waiting for every word on your tongue

To wash over me and drown them out.

First Steps For Something Better

This house they watched us build

And they watched it cave in

They never told us what we couldn’t see

We were only playing with sticks and stones,

Waiting for the breeze to show us how to start again

And oh,

Did you think I wouldn’t?

Did you think I wouldn’t know how?

Oh, did you think I’d forgotten?

The first steps are the hardest, when you’re walking away.

Not looking back, not looking back, you fade away,

Your shadow on my shoulder, your lips on my brain,

But I know that I need to be, something better than we could ever be.

In the mirror I started drowning,

But you gave me so much more to see.

With these bruises, now that they’re healing,

I’ve got no reason to keep staring.

Did you think I would?

Did you think I’d know how?

Oh, did you think I’d forget?

The first steps are the hardest, when you’re walking away.

Not looking back, not looking back, you fade away,

Your shadow on my shoulder, your lips on my brain,

But I know that I need to be, something better than we could ever be.

First steps for something better,

Change the locks and melt the keys.

Keep the pace up like my chin and

I’ll forget what you meant to me,

Increase the distance and follow my feet,

Now I know that I need to be, something better than we.

The Second Time

Won’t you swallow me down past your back teeth

Oh I know, you’re getting sick of me

Always running when you come around

Always shirking opportunity

Cause they’ve got me paranoid that,

I won’t make sense of you.

Arm’s length is fine, but not one inch closer

I can’t fend you off if you make your way in

Distance is key, to a heart kept safe

Chances are always more important, the second time around.

Arm’s length is fine with me.

Won’t you catch me in my moment,

Of complete disbelief.

Cause there’s no way that i can be certain

That you mean what you say you mean.

How can he taste what he sees from a distance

How can he feel this is right

He can he hold you to fix what’s been broken

How can you tell him he’s right.

Arm’s length is fine, but not one inch closer

I can’t fend you off if you make your way in

Distance is key, to a heart kept safe

Chances are always more important, the second time around.

Arm’s length is fine with me.

Won’t you swallow me down past your back teeth.

Oh I know, you’re sick of me.

Always running when you come around,

Always shirking opportunity.

Arm’s length is fine, maybe one step closer

I won’t fend you off if you make your way in

Distance is key, to a heart kept safe,

Don’t make this more important, the second time around.

Mess of Me

It hangs around my neck

Some cross of noose and necklace.

Decorative but choking all at once.

It claws at my spine

Like a spider up a spout.

Trying hard to reach what’s filled with doubt.

(Can I fight this?) (This fear that I will lose)

(Can I fight me?) (This fear of breaking soon)

Everything internal starts to bleed.

I’ve made a mess of me,

So much for the weapons you lent me.

I’ve made a mess, laying in this mess

Of me.

It keeps in my place

Some kind of apologetic stain

On the way that your heart folds itself in time.

It dances in my throat

The hooks of words she never wrote

Stinging in my head cause the rest of me is numb.

(Can I fight this?) (This fear that I will lose)

(Can I fight me?) (This fear of breaking soon)

Everything internal starts to bleed.

I’ve made a mess of me,

So much for the weapons you lent me.

I’ve made a mess, laying in this mess

Of me.

You kept me sane,

You kept me secret,

Lying in the dark about my scars.

But I needed to see,

I needed to fix myself,

Or at least get the chance to try again.

(Can I fight this?) (This fear that I will lose)

(Can I fight me?) (This fear of breaking soon)

Everything internal starts to bleed.

I’ve made a mess of me,

So much for the weapons you lent me.

I’ve made a mess, laying in this mess

Of me.

Words Don’t Matter

If I squeeze too tightly

Will you wriggle out?

If I need you all the time

Will you let me down?

Cause I might.

I’m not scared, if you’re not scared,

I won’t care if you don’t care,

Cause all I need was right there in your voice.

If I run away

Will you chase me down?

If I let you go

Would you still be around?

I don’t think I will.

I’m not scared, if you’re not scared.

I won’t care if you don’t care.

Cause all I need was right there in your voice.

Words don’t matter,

The sounds you made,

Left your mark,

Left your mark on your part of me.

Words don’t matter,

The sounds we made,

Left your mark,

You’ve won that much of me.

I’m not scared, if you’re not scared.

I won’t care if you don’t care.

Cause all I need was right there in your voice.

I’m not scared, if you’re not scared.

I won’t care if you don’t care.

Cause all I need was right there in your voice.

If I squeeze too tightly,

Will you wriggle out?

Cause I might…

A Boy

I thought I saw the way you looked at me

I thought it seemed alright

To let you keep me holding on

To let you keep me warm at night.

But what a fool I was, to think it was you.

The boy that’d never think to break my heart.

He’ll crawl into the holes you made

And never let me go

He’s not just all in my head

Somewhere out there, near or far

He’s taken by me,

Shaken by me,

And he always tells me so.

Somewhere out there, there’s a boy for me.

Don’t Look Away

In my chest

There’s a ticking noise

Like some kind of bomb

Made by little boys.

I watch the time go by

And I think my time is running out.

To make you decide

That I’m the one you can’t live without.

Stare at me forever

I’ll be beautiful.

In your eyes.

There’s a sun.

There’s a time I feel I’m the only one.

In your eyes

Oh in your eyes,

I’m not afraid.

Don’t look away.

In this day

There’s a broken hour

Like some kind of map

To a broken place.

I watch the rain dry up

And head into the clouds.

Don’t let your love dry up

Make me cry out loud.

Stare at me forever.

I’ll be beautiful.

In your eyes.

There’s a sun.

There’s a time I feel I’m the only one.

In your eyes

Oh in your eyes,

I’m not afraid.

Don’t look away.

Whole

I read about you in the stars,

They told me of your shine.

And so I thought if you could love me

The whole world could be mine.

And I was right.

Oh you make it right.

That’s why I wear

That smile you gave me

That’s why I find

That part of me I like

That’s why I feel

Like nothing could ever break me

That’s why I tell you

I honestly love that you’re mine.

I am a tourist in your heart,

But I hope I’ve found a home, here

I’ve found some part of me,

You are what I have never known, and,

This love is something real,

So please don’t ever let me go, cause

Everything inside of me,

Loves you as a whole.

That’s why I wear

That smile you gave me

That’s why I find

That part of me I like

That’s why I feel

Like nothing could ever break me

That’s why I tell you

I honestly love that you’re mine.

I look for you in everything

Cause you’re what I wanna see.

In my everyday adventures,

You are the happy ending.

That’s why I wear

That smile you gave me

That’s why I find

That part of me I like

That’s why I feel

Like nothing could ever break me

That’s why I tell you

I honestly love that you’re mine.

I read about you in the stars,

They told me of your shine.

And so I thought if you could love me

The whole world could be mine.

And I was right.

Let Me Down

I’m so crazy

Cause you and your lips

They say all these things

And then when we kiss

Cause only you say

The things I can’t

Put em on my tongue

Like nobody can

Save me now

Don’t let me down

I’m sorry for expecting you

To be the one to get me through

Save me now

Don’t let me down

I’m so selfish

With you and your eyes

I want them on me

All of the time

Cause only you see

The things I can’t

The good in me

Like nobody can

Save me now

Don’t let me down

I’m sorry for expecting you

To be the one to get me through

Save me now

Don’t let me down

Just know

You never could

No matter what you said you’d never let me down

You never could; you’d never let me

Save me now

Don’t let me down

I’m sorry for expecting you

To be the one to get me through

Save me now

Don’t let me down

Favorite Psychotic Song

Two steps forward, three steps back

The closer I get the less it all makes sense

I’m so close to being where they want me

So far from anything real

What’s left of the Earth?

What’s left to become?

Chase my storm clouds, be my sun.

Hole me up, I’m just a psycho.

Purge yourself, you’re better off if you do

Hole me up, I’m just a psycho

Singing my favorite psychotic song

Won’t you sing along?

One more truth, two more lies.

The more I believe the less they make it mean.

I’m so close to being right how they want me

So far from anything more than me.

What’s left of you fire?

What’s left to burn down?

Lips of liars, without their frowns

Hole me up, I’m just a psycho.

Purge yourself, you’re better off if you do

Hole me up, I’m just a psycho

Singing my favorite psychotic song

Won’t you sing along?

My smile never fades, cause here in my reality,

I’m the only one completely sane.

I’m the only one completely sane.

My smile never fades, cause, here in this reality

I’m the only one completely sane.

I’m the only one completely sane.

What’s left of your silence?

What’s left in here, inside of us?

Hole me up, I’m just a psycho.

Purge yourself, you’re better off if you do

Hole me up, I’m just a psycho

Singing my favorite psychotic song

Won’t you sing along?
