The Second Time

Won’t you swallow me down past your back teeth

Oh I know, you’re getting sick of me

Always running when you come around

Always shirking opportunity

Cause they’ve got me paranoid that,

I won’t make sense of you.

Arm’s length is fine, but not one inch closer

I can’t fend you off if you make your way in

Distance is key, to a heart kept safe

Chances are always more important, the second time around.

Arm’s length is fine with me.

Won’t you catch me in my moment,

Of complete disbelief.

Cause there’s no way that i can be certain

That you mean what you say you mean.

How can he taste what he sees from a distance

How can he feel this is right

He can he hold you to fix what’s been broken

How can you tell him he’s right.

Arm’s length is fine, but not one inch closer

I can’t fend you off if you make your way in

Distance is key, to a heart kept safe

Chances are always more important, the second time around.

Arm’s length is fine with me.

Won’t you swallow me down past your back teeth.

Oh I know, you’re sick of me.

Always running when you come around,

Always shirking opportunity.

Arm’s length is fine, maybe one step closer

I won’t fend you off if you make your way in

Distance is key, to a heart kept safe,

Don’t make this more important, the second time around.
