To Find A Face

Sanity slip through my hands

You’ve taught me things, I will forget

I make my own light, but it burns my eyes

I fight a good clean fight, but it seems I waste my time

And I’m trying, to find a face within me

That I can stand to see,

That I don’t have to hide, I don’t feel I have to…

Paper bag, smother me, I’ve tried

Plastic bag, cover me, pillow at night,

So what if I, fail again

Isn’t that what’s expected

Isn’t that what’s expected

One little star up in the sky,

I’d shoot it down with the daggers from my eyes

You’ve mistaken me for somebody worth something

You aren’t so convincing with your hands reaching at nothing

And I’m trying, to find a face within me

That I can stand to see,

That I don’t have to hide, I don’t feel I have to…

Paper bag, smother me, I’ve tried

Plastic bag, cover me, pillow at night,

So what if I, fail again

Isn’t that what’s expected

Isn’t that what’s expected

I take, each step,

Each day,

One more at a time,

Harder than the last,

It harder than the last.

Sanity slipped through my hands,

I promise we’re all crazy, here.

And I’m trying, to find a face within me

That I can stand to see,

That I don’t have to hide, I don’t feel I have to…

Paper bag, smother me, I’ve tried

Plastic bag, cover me, pillow at night,

So what if I, fail again

Isn’t that what’s expected

Isn’t that what’s expected
