Snuffed

When we were young

We sat in castles made of cards,

Floated in waves of lovers arms,

But you made friends with the undertow

I couldn’t reach you anymore

You wanna know how far I’ll go

Can’t say I’m not scared I’ll go your way

Out, like a light

You were gone,

You were snuffed,

Like the night turns to dawn

It was over, it was done

We’re snuffed.

The pictures are in a box

Under the bed I make

Of me and you in a land

Where we would never change

But you grew and I couldn’t keep up

Couldn’t twist your way anymore

So now I look at those pictures

And I wonder how you went

Out, like a light

You were gone,

You were snuffed,

Like the night turns to dawn

It was over, it was done

We’re snuffed.

I breathe in the ashes

I take in the silence

I’ll never forget how we used to be

So alive and everything

But I can’t follow you to the dark

(I breathe in the ashes)

(I breathe in the the ashes)

I breathe

Out, like a light

You were gone,

You were snuffed,

Like the night turns to dawn

It was over, it was done

You’re over, it’s done

You’re gone,

You’re gone

We’re snuffed.

When we were young,

We sat in castles in castles made of cards,

We floated into the lovers’ arms,

But you made friends, with the undertow

With the undertow
