The Struggle

I could stand in the ashes my whole life

Look at my scars wonder what I could’ve said right

But that would be letting you win after letting you in

You took the door to the left when you were all I had left

If you don’t care, then why should I

Struggle with this monster inside

When I know you’re not, you don’t care, you don’t care

If you don’t care, then why should I

Force my words farther inside

To make you feel like it’s not your fault, you don’t care, you don’t care

You swear I’ve got in crosshairs

That I’m aiming to put you to bed here

But I’ve been the one who’s been laying down

I’ve never looked for more than peace, is that what I found?

If you don’t care, then why should I

Struggle with this monster inside

When I know you’re not, you don’t care, you don’t care

If you don’t care, then why should I

Force my words farther inside

To make you feel like it’s not your fault, you don’t care, you don’t care

It’s hard to look with stinging eyes

At what we built burn

For me it is, I guess maybe it’s different for you now

Isn’t that what you said?

That it’s just not the same,

I carry your blame wherever I go

But still I know…

You don’t care, so why should I

Struggle with this monster inside

But I know you

If you don’t care, then why should I

Struggle with this monster inside

When I know you’re not, you don’t care, you don’t care

If you don’t care, then why should I

Force my words farther inside

To make you feel like it’s not your fault, you don’t care, you don’t care
