Consequence, Not Coincidence.

I haven’t said I love you in some time

I waited for you to notice the silence,

But you never did.

You talked right over it, right over me,

In my quiet thoughts.

I should’ve known better than to expect somebody else,

To understand my reasoning for anything.

But this is consequence, not coincidence,

I’m better off alone anyway,

I guess that much is true.

Cause if you don’t want to care,

Then I don’t need you here,

So I’m letting go, no use in holding on,

What will fall apart anyways.

But this is consequence, not coincidence,

That I figured out that I’m better off alone.

I haven’t made a motion to come and see you

I waited for you to notice my absence

But you never did.

You took advantage of it,

You took advantage of me,

With my quiet thoughts,

I should’ve known better that to expect somebody else,

To understand my reason for anything.

But this is consequence, not coincidence,

I’m better off alone anyway,

I guess that much is true.

Cause if you don’t want to care,

Then I don’t need you here,

So I’m letting go, no use in holding on,

What will fall apart anyways.

But this is consequence, not coincidence,

That I figured out that I’m better off alone.

So when he realizes, I’m not by his side,

I’ll already be gone.

The memories, of him and me,

Will be the only thing he has to recall.

I won’t be sad, I won’t be sorry,

And the worst part is he won’t either,

Cause he never knew what he was missing,

You never knew what you were missing.

But this is consequence, not coincidence,

I’m better off alone anyway,

I guess that much is true.

Cause if you don’t want to care,

Then I don’t need you here,

So I’m letting go, no use in holding on,

What will fall apart anyways.

But this is consequence, not coincidence,

That I figured out that I’m better off alone.
