Better Than This

You find your caves to be so inviting,

But you never realized that’s why you’re always hiding.

You show love in ways that you understand,

Never by a kiss, gentle touch of your hand.

Keep me here, try as you might.

But you know you can’t, I might fight.

Your cage is bare, empty and cold,

It’s no surprise I’ll die before I’m old.

Tell me to smile, I dare you.

Tell me it’ll all be just fine.

From the outside of the padded cage,

The future looks so bright.

I tried, your policies,

Fake smiles and a taunting secret.

You lied, you promised me,

That one day I’d be better than this.

You find your lies to be so inspiring,

So don’t find what I do surprising,

You show love in ways, only you understand.

Never with a nice word, gentle touch of your hand.

Tell me to smile, I dare you.

Tell me it’ll all be just fine.

From the outside of the padded cage,

My future looks so bright.

I tried, your policies,

Fake smiles and a taunting secret.

You lied, you promised me,

That one day I’d be better than this.

Just let me spread my wings,

Fly, where, I wanna fly.

Don’t care, cause you don’t care,

Don’t practice your mother face,

Every night in the mirror,

Cause it never looked that great anyways.

I tried, your policies,

Fake smiles and a taunting secret.

You lied, you promised me,

That one day I’d be better than this.
