If It Ain’t You

So I hear there’s a little shame in loving

Something you can’t have for keeps

And I wonder why that is

Cause you can’t hold on to the wind the same

Should you hide from the way it is

I want nothing to do with

Anything if it ain’t you

I thought you might wanna know

I thought you might wanna know

I thought you might wanna notice

So I hear you’ve been sleeping the same bed

And you’ve been crying alone

And I wonder why that is

Cause you can’t go on that way forever

Should you hide from the way you are

I want nothing to do with

Anything if it ain’t you

I thought you might wanna know

I thought you might wanna know

I thought you might wanna notice

Me, me, me

On my knees, yeah

Do you wanna know, now?

Well, do you wanna know now

What I think of you, of you of you

I think of you, oh

Do you wanna know, now?

I want nothing to do with

Anything if it ain’t you

I thought you might wanna know

I thought you might wanna know

I thought you might wanna notice

The Center

You wanted to know what it felt like, the center

To be what everyone wants

But nobody wants you just as you are,

So you compromise and do yourself over

I’d like to be swallowed by greed and pretention

Then I’ll really belong

Stuffed with the knowledge of only each other

We’re right when we get it wrong

I fell down a mountain, into myself

And I don’t know where I am now

I felt so high but it was merely illusion

It looks like I’m buried underground

You wanted to know what it felt like, the center

To be what everyone wants

But nobody wants you just as you are,

So you compromise and do yourself over

I’d like to be swallowed by greed and pretention

Then I’ll really belong

Stuffed with the knowledge of only each other

We’re right when we get it wrong

In their sights, absolution

To find what really should matter

Nothing’s the same when you’re bleeding for nothing

It’s lonely when you’re not yourself

You wanted to know what it felt like, the center

To be what everyone wants

But nobody wants you just as you are,

So you compromise and do yourself over

I’d like to be swallowed by greed and pretention

Then I’ll really belong

Stuffed with the knowledge of only each other

We’re right when we get it wrong

Harder

I will break over you

I will cry til the day I die

But don’t let that stop you from going

Don’t let that stop you from forgetting a thing

I’ll fall harder than anyone

I will never get back up

I’ll fall harder than anyone

I will never get back up

I won’t get over you

I will cry til the day I die

But don’t let that stop you from moving on

Don’t let that stop you from forgetting everything

I’ll fall harder than anyone

I will never get back up

I’ll fall harder than anyone

I will never get back up

But please don’t catch me

If you really don’t want to

That’s worse than the fall, I believe

I’ll fall harder than anyone

I will never get back up

I’ll fall harder than anyone

I will never get back up

A Place

I’m sure I told you not to fall in love

Whispered it to you in your dreams

You never listen to me, do you

Only when I’m telling you how much I need you

One day I’ll find a place

Where even you feel safe

For just us to know

For only us to go

One day I’ll find a place

Where even you feel safe

For just us to know

I’m sure they told you it’s a car crash waiting to happen

You won’t be able to look away but

You really know how it ends already

One day I’ll find a place

Where even you feel safe

For just us to know

For only us to go

One day I’ll find a place

Where even you feel safe

For just us to know

Will you go there with me

All the time, forever

Or else I’ll go alone

Will you go there with me

All the time, forever

Or else I’ll go alone

One day I’ll find a place

Where even you feel safe

For just us to know

For only us to go

One day I’ll find a place

Where even you feel safe

For just us to know

Throw Rocks

A hundred years been sleeping on me

A hundred years they’ve dreaming that same old dream

I guess I’m not real then,

I guess it’s not real.

Your privilege, my secrets

Eat me up til the morning I don’t wake

Your privilege, my new edge

Cut me up til the morning I don’t wake

Throw rocks at the glass ceiling maybe it will break

Yesterday you said something to me

You wanna tell them just what it sounded like

Bark your words, but you gonna eat em up when

You wanna eat right out of my hands

Your privilege, my secrets

Eat me up til the morning I don’t wake

Your privilege, my new edge

Cut me up til the morning I don’t wake

I throw rocks at the glass ceiling maybe it will break

Call me anything

Call me everything

Cause your words don’t mean nothing

When I have rocks to throw

And make sure you don’t call me tomorrow

Your privilege, my secrets

Eat me up til the morning I don’t wake

Your privilege, my new edge

Cut me up til the morning I don’t wake

I throw rocks at the glass ceiling maybe it will break

I’m Sure She Knows

The secrets you always kept with me

I’m sure it’s different with her now

I bet she knows that side of you

That with me you never did let out

We still talk now and again

You still say the same old things

Is that your parrot heart talking

I’m sure she knows you never moved on

I’m sure she knows

You probably tell her everything

About how you said you feel about me

I’m sure she knows

That’s why she’s there

Instead of with somebody else

Who’d be honest, who’d care

I bet you told her how I made you feel

I bet you told her all the you said

About how you tricked me into making it real

And then you let it all get to my head

We still talk every now and again

You still say the same old shit

that’s just your parrot heart talking

I’m sure she knows you’re a bird that way

I’m sure she knows

You probably tell her everything

About how you said you feel about me

I’m sure she knows

That’s why she’s there

Instead of with somebody else

Who’d be honest, who’d care

Let’s be honest,

You don’t care

Let’s be honest,

Could you if you tried

Tight lips, tired eyes

Are you awake with the weight of lies

I put my trust in you

I let you touch my soul

I now know everything I never knew

But don’t worry I won’t say a thing, I’m sure she knows

I’m sure she knows

You probably tell her everything

About how you said you feel about me

I’m sure she knows

That’s why she’s there

Instead of with somebody else

Who let’s be honest, would care

Enemy

You’ve said your sorry

You held up the flag of submission

You’ve made your peace with the flame trying to burn you

But the smoke is still trying to consume you

Oh you can do no right

In the eyes of your yesterday

What kind of enemy

Do you need to be

To wage a war against yourself

You’ve kept in the corner

Away from all the sharp knives, temptation

You’ve sworn peace to the faces who only looked down

But you can still sink no lower

You point the gun at the face in the mirror

Your destruction doesn’t make it any clearer

You point your gun at the face in the mirror

What kind of enemy, do you need to be

To wage a war against yourself

Counting

I’m on the brink of something great

Something terrible

Everyone around me screaming

Something different at me

Getting older, finding out the wheel is hard to turn

And, here we go I’m pulling out, starting out now

Count 1, 2, 3

Come on and count me in

What can I count on now?

1, 2, 3

Come and count me in

What can I count on now

I’m the new face of something new

And something very old

Everyone around me

Waiting, watching me to fall,

Getting taller, standing on shoulders before me

And, here we go, I’m jumping off, starting off now

Count 1, 2, 3

Come on and count me in

What can I count on now?

1, 2, 3

Come and count me in

What can I count on now

Everyone I know

Is everyone I’ve known,

What can I count on now

I’m getting older, getting taller

Waiting watching, for me to fall

I’m getting older, starting out now

Counting, 1, 2, 3

1, 2, 3

Count 1, 2, 3

Come on and count me in

What can I count on now?

1, 2, 3

Come and count me in

What can I count on now

Tell Me Why

We’re around eachother all the time

Same air, same smiles

So I don’t know how it is

You still think I’m wonderful

Hold my hand when it’s cold outside

Laugh at me when I’m funny

But I guess this is all joking aside

I’ll ask you one thing

Tell me why

You gotta ruin this for me

With ideas of true love and eternity

If I’m the only one that thinks that stuff

Then maybe it won’t hurt that much

When you leave and you don’t even tell me why

Thinking of you on the train

And I can’t help but stop myself

There’s no thing as soul mates

So I shouldn’t get my hopes up

Hold my hand when it’s cold outside

Laugh at me when I’m funny

But I guess this is all joking aside

I’ll ask you one thing

Tell me why

You gotta ruin this for me

With ideas of true love and eternity

If I’m the only one that thinks that stuff

Then maybe it won’t hurt that much

When you leave and you don’t even tell me why

I linger here, with you

But I don’t know for how long

You linger here, with me

But I don’t know for how long

Hold my hand when it’s cold outside

Laugh at me when I’m funny

Tell me why

You gotta ruin this for me

With ideas of true love and eternity

If I’m the only one that thinks that stuff

Then maybe it won’t hurt that much

When you leave and you don’t even tell me why

Vanity

You’ve been a statue in my head

Something I can’t run from for very long

It’s coming clear the words you said

Aren’t easily meant, you’ve been saying them for very long

Was it easier to let me forget myself

Is it easier to sleep without me now

I tried to change but it was all in vain

It’s hopeless, now,

You’re just a statue in my head I can’t lose you now

It’s been a long year of nothing

Nothing to say so I keep quiet

You let me stand in my silence, darling

But now I fall to my knees, and cry, yeah

Was it easier to let me forget myself

Is it easier to sleep without me now

I tried to change but it was all in vain

It’s hopeless, now,

You’re just a statue in my head I can’t lose you now

All the rings of water they circle you

All the kinds of lover I was to you

You left me, with a statue

To carry around, This rock is heavier

Now that you drowned in yourself

Was it easier to let me forget myself

Is it easier to sleep without me now

I tried to change but it was all in vain

It’s hopeless, now,

You’re just a statue in my head I can’t lose you now

Book of Matches

Everything in me is begging for a bigger piece of you

Something to keep with me when you haveta go

I know you do.

It’s  a little captivating the smile you save for me

It’s a little breathtaking the way you seem to have taken me

Bursting into burning flames with your one little touch

Your book of matches gonna change me into ashes

But I can’t say I care too much

To Find A Face

Sanity slip through my hands

You’ve taught me things, I will forget

I make my own light, but it burns my eyes

I fight a good clean fight, but it seems I waste my time

And I’m trying, to find a face within me

That I can stand to see,

That I don’t have to hide, I don’t feel I have to…

Paper bag, smother me, I’ve tried

Plastic bag, cover me, pillow at night,

So what if I, fail again

Isn’t that what’s expected

Isn’t that what’s expected

One little star up in the sky,

I’d shoot it down with the daggers from my eyes

You’ve mistaken me for somebody worth something

You aren’t so convincing with your hands reaching at nothing

And I’m trying, to find a face within me

That I can stand to see,

That I don’t have to hide, I don’t feel I have to…

Paper bag, smother me, I’ve tried

Plastic bag, cover me, pillow at night,

So what if I, fail again

Isn’t that what’s expected

Isn’t that what’s expected

I take, each step,

Each day,

One more at a time,

Harder than the last,

It harder than the last.

Sanity slipped through my hands,

I promise we’re all crazy, here.

And I’m trying, to find a face within me

That I can stand to see,

That I don’t have to hide, I don’t feel I have to…

Paper bag, smother me, I’ve tried

Plastic bag, cover me, pillow at night,

So what if I, fail again

Isn’t that what’s expected

Isn’t that what’s expected
